Rock Island
County Town Hall Meetings Scheduled
County’s Fiscal Year 2017
budget and proposed sales tax referendum to be discussed
Rock Island County Administrator Dave Ross
will lead the town hall meetings to brief County
residents on the County’s Fiscal Year 2017 budget and to hear residents’ ideas
on how to deal with pressing financial issues facing the County.
“Among the priorities from the County Board’s strategic planning process are
commitments to fiscal accountability and to greater transparency,” Ross said.
“As we consider the possibility of a Public Safety Referendum that would ask
voters to approve a half-cent sales tax increase in November, we want to share
our plans with voters and hear their ideas.”
The three meetings are as follows:|
Saturday, July 30, at 9:30 a.m. at Western Illinois University-Quad
Cities Riverfront Hall, Room 103
Monday, August 1, 7:00 p.m. in the Martin Parchert Pavilion at Loud
Thunder Forest Preserve (first park entrance west of the spillway, then follow
signs)
Tuesday, August 2: 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room of Messiah Lutheran
Church in Port Byron, on 11th Street above Illinois Route 84
Each session will include an overview of Rock Island County’s strategic
objectives from County Board Vice-Chair Nick Camlin, a budget outlook by County
Administrator Dave Ross, and a review of possible budget scenarios by Rock
Island County Sheriff Gerry Bustos.
Your district 22 county board member, Drue Mielke, will be in attendance at all
three meetings to hear from our residents on this very important issue and
address concerns.
