there will be a 21-gun salute and taps. Also, student art contest awards and
Silvis' Hero of the Year award will be announced.

Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m., Monday, May 30, at Rock
Island National Cemetery. C.O. Smith; USMC, Vietnam Veteran, State Commander
of the Marine Corps League of Illinois, will be this year's speaker.
The ceremony will also include patriotic music by the CASI New Horizons
Band, as well as a chorus from the CASI Goldentones; a National salute by
the Illinois National Guard, Alpha Battery, 2nd Battalion, 123rd Field
Artillery Regiment; an honor salute by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter
299; an echo salute by Davenport American Legion Post 26; and Taps by John
Adams, Davenport American Legion Post 26.
There will be no parking at the cemetery for this ceremony except for
individuals who are wheelchair bound. Parking for all others will be behind
Memorial Park in the large lot. Buses will be transporting people from the
parking lot to the cemetery and will run 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors should
arrive early to ensure enough time to park their vehicles and be transported
to the cemetery.
Memorial Park is located off of the main Island road, Rodman Avenue at the
corner of East Street. The public must enter the Arsenal through the Moline
