Rock Island County mourns the passing of Calvin Frels

A good, generous man, and steadfast Republican is missed

Condolences are being given to Dr. Lois Frels who lost her husband, Calvin (Cal ) Frels, on May 19, 2016. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2015. Dr. Lois Frels was President of Ilinois Federation of Republican Women from 2005 to 2009.

Rock Island County Republican Central Committee Chairman Bill Bloom recounts "I can't count the times he and Lois opened their homes to events to help good people running for office. Truly a selfless spirit.

Fellow conservative Bill Long communicated Cal's passing, "We lost a true conservative, and a great person, recently. We are mourning the loss of Calvin Frels. Cal and Lois have been a shining star in the Republican Party, local, State and Nationally, for as far back as I can remember. You could always count on their support for the conservative movement. He was truly a man's man!! He loved farming and loved his family
