GOAL:
Continuing what I started on the Coal Valley Village Board.
Informing residents in my district by sending out a county board report to
everyone in my district and maintaining my web site.
Continuing to work to assure that I give voice to the vulnerable and
oppressed in my district, who do not have a voice.
Continuing to assure that the laws set in place to protect residents are
also applied to those who need protection the most.
I received an email in June 2013 thanking me for real, visible progress that is
occurring. By far….I didn’t work alone. But I assured that progress would
happen.
I spoke up!
-
GOAL: Moving the Mark On the
County Board.
By offering leadership that looks out for the real
interests of the residents rather than the interests of the few or of
special interest groups .
By offering honest
and accountable government rather than machine politics and business as
usual.
But we still have a long way to go
-
Principle: A Mission to All Residents
I pledge to continue my mission
to protect residents in our community realizing that the most vulnerable
of our residents may not have the loudest voice.
During the campaign, I have stressed that as an elected official, I
represent ALL residents. In my election night speech, I stated that now
that the election is over, I become the representative for all, ensuring
your voice is heard and voting for the best interests of our district.
On the Rock Island County Board I am working for accountability in how
our county is run and bringing information to you on issues that affect
Rock Island County.
-
Principle and GOAL:
Honest Representation for All Residents
To provide the same fair and honest representation and decision
as I provideded as Trustee for the Village of Coal Valley.
I represent ALL the residents and realize that the most vulnerable of
our residents may not have the loudest voice.
-
Principle and GOAL: Transparency
To provide transparency of the county board and its decisions to the
residents of Rock Island County. Worked for and provided open and transparent government and defender of
the Open Meetings Act. Working to add a
public comments section to the Rock Island County Board agenda to assure
your voice can be heard.
-
Principle and GOAL: Fiscal Responsibility
To balance the budget for Rock Island County Board and employ
conservative spending.
-
Principle and GOAL: Decrease
the Size of Government
Supported the public’s voice regarding downsizing the county board from 25 to 15 members.
A day after the election, a reporter asked me about the non-binding
resolution to decrease the county board member count from 25 to 15. I
responded that “we all need to look at the will of the people, and the
people clearly spoke that they wanted the board to be 15 members, and I
am going to do everything I can do to support that.”
The proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions
that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best
government is that which governs least and listens to the
people.
-
Principle and GOAL: Accountability
To establish hiring guidelines to assure that the most qualified
candidates are hired for positions in Rock Island County, eliminating preference given for
personal bias.

Principle and GOAL:
To Unite
Rather than Divide
Demanding equal rights, equal justice, and
equal opportunity for all; regardless of labels and prejudices that aim
to divide us.
Demonstrating that every resident has a
voice and listening and look at all sides before making a
decision.
I have a history of working effectively and deliberately on the
Coal Valley board by supporting local business and listening to all
residents' perspectives. Approaches may be different, but I know common ground
can be found and I believe an elected official is obligated to represent
ALL residents of which he serves.
